The Revival Project

I remember my childhood walking along the streets of Kochi, holding the ends (pallu) of my mother’s saree and playing peekaboo with it. Another fond memory is of the south Indian weddings where by default women used to wear colourful wonders in Kancheepuram silk and young girls wore old Kancheepuram sarees which were refashioned into ‘pattu pavadai’. I too have lived up to this tradition and have enjoyed wearing these outfits. So, undoubtedly The Revival Project is for every woman like me, who wants to make handwoven cotton and silk sarees a part of their daily lives.

The Revival Project reinterprets traditional and handwoven cotton and silk sarees into contemporary and exciting designs. Preeti Raja (founder of The Revival Project) believes that by fashioning traditional and old world handwoven sarees that survived rough use which were also comfortably airy in the hottest summer, into dresses that we womenfolk could use everyday with the same comfort, elegance and ease, she hopes to connect us to a different era and bring some of that simplicity back into our lives. I couldn’t agree more! The fabric is obtained directly from the weavers and every saree is unique in terms of the colour, print and pattern used. A seamless blend of chic designs using age-old prints like mango, gopuram and peacock, or patterns like checks and stripes, and comfort.

Some of you would know that I styled five dresses from their collection on my old blog. I will add them to this blog and share the links with you. Also, here are the links to shop Preeti’s designs on Instagram, Facebook and her website.

This post is a little different from the others. I invited a friend of mine to join me this time, and together we styled two outfits. Navmi Menon is based in Dubai, and loves dressing up as much as I do.

Take a look at the outfits…

I went for a salmon + golden look here. I paired the jumpsuit with golden (super shiny) shoes and golden box sling with floral detailing from Aldo. Golden earrings and a watch to complete the look. This jumpsuit is the epitome of comfort!

Navmi wore her sunshine yellow dress with a pair of basic white sneakers and a pair of black metal earrings, giving the outfit a simple yet fun look.

Hope you liked the two looks we put together for you. How would you style these pieces? Do let us know what you think.

I will be back soon with another post, take care till then!
