Kancheevaram : Part I

Finding that perfect saree for any occasion is a tedious and sometimes frustrating task. More often than not I visit 4-5 stores to pick up one saree that suits my taste and needs. These are times when I prefer shopping from boutiques to retail giants. They have unique and beautiful pieces in numbers that I don’t find overwhelming.

It is very recently that I came across this store, Kancheevaram, in Kochi. Like the name suggests, the store has unique and high quality Kacheevaram (Kancheepuram) sarees. Apart from Kancheepuram silk, they have a beautiful range of sarees in Banarasi, Chanderi, tissue and various other fabrics. They have simple daily wear sarees and salwar materials too. If you want a saree in a particular design/colour, they can help you with it.

As the title says, this is just part I of the series. You might be wondering what the series is all about, right? I visited the store, picked up a few sarees (in different fabrics and prints) and styled them in ways that I thought did justice to them.

The first saree is a rich borderless Kacheevaram saree in blue and pink. I paired it with a pink blouse, a few golden bangles and a pair of matte finish jhumkas from Quills & Spills. When I wear a saree, I usually wear a bindi too, in a colour that matches the saree preferably. For this saree, I went with a blue bindi.

Do you like this look? Do let me know what you think.
